- Description: Know which flow curves, fluid properties, and differential-pressure limits to request for filter selection.

Eaton's HAYFLOW resource illustrates how element geometry and area enter filter selection. It describes an element used with a matching restrainer basket and identifies lower differential pressure as a means of reducing pump energy requirements.

For a selection comparison, request a flow-versus-pressure-drop curve for the exact housing and element, with fluid properties and test temperature stated. Record clean-system differential pressure at the intended operating flow. Obtain the manufacturer's change-out limit and element differential-pressure limit; avoid a universal replacement threshold.

This reference is a product-specific example. It does not supply a general viscosity correction equation or guarantee a particular energy saving.
